About Me

Rebecca Putter, Executive Director

As the valedictorian of my high school class, I earned a near perfect GPA both while studying politics at NYU and later when earning a master’s degree in higher education administration from UT Austin. I'll admit it -- I'm a self-proclaimed nerd and have been lucky enough to have had positive school experiences. As a college counselor, I strive to share that same joy with students and instill self-confidence along the way.

After getting my start in education by working as a private academic coach and high school admissions counselor for students in New York City, I moved to Austin in 2010 to pursue graduate school. I spent two years as a pre-law advisor and career coach with UT Austin’s Liberal Arts Career Services Office before joining Collegewise, the nation's largest college counseling organization in 2014. I launched the Austin Collegewise branch and have been helping high school students of all GPAs and test scores find and get into the colleges of their dreams ever since.

My work is 100% remote and I advise students from all over the country. My students are accepted to UT Austin at five times the national admit rate and recent graduates have gained acceptance to Cornell, The University of Virginia, Barnard, NYU, Rice, and Texas A&M.

Outside of work, I am a gluten-free pescatarian who enjoys competitively riding my Peloton, reading (~50 books/year), traveling, hiking with my family (a motley crew: toddler, mini golden doodle and husband!), and soaking up Austin’s abundant selection of live music.
